- Firm tofu - 200 grams
- Shiitake mushrooms - 100 grams, sliced
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
- Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
- Vegetable broth - 200 milliliters
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
- Water - 2 tablespoons
- Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
Steps
- Press the tofu to remove excess moisture for about 15 minutes, then cut it into cubes.
- Heat sesame oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat, add the cubed tofu, and fry until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove tofu and set aside.
- In the same pan, add minced garlic and ginger, sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the sliced shiitake mushrooms and cook for about 5 minutes until they are softened.
- Return the tofu to the pan and pour in the soy sauce and vegetable broth. Stir to combine.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry, then add this to the pan to thicken the sauce.
- Simmer the mixture on low heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste, and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
