Ingredients
- Pork belly - 300 grams
- Soy sauce - 60 ml
- Rice wine - 30 ml
- Brown sugar - 15 grams
- Star anise - 1 piece
- Ginger - 10 grams, sliced
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Water - 250 ml
- Pizza dough - 1 ball (approx. 250 grams)
- Mozzarella cheese - 100 grams, shredded
- Spring onions - 2, chopped
- Red bell pepper - 1/2, sliced
- Cilantro - a handful, chopped
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
Steps
- In a pot, combine pork belly, soy sauce, rice wine, brown sugar, star anise, ginger, garlic, and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour until the pork is tender.
- Remove the pork from the pot and let it cool slightly. Strain the braising liquid and reserve it.
- Preheat the oven to 220°C (428°F). Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
- Spread some reserved braising liquid over the pizza base, then layer the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly on top.
- Slice the braised pork into bite-sized pieces and distribute them over the cheese. Add the sliced red bell pepper and sprinkle with chopped spring onions.
- Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and drizzle with sesame oil. Garnish with chopped cilantro before serving.
