Ingredients
- Pork belly - 250 grams
- Soy sauce - 30 ml
- Rice wine - 15 ml
- Brown sugar - 10 grams
- Ginger - 10 grams, sliced
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Star anise - 1 piece
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Whole wheat pizza dough - 200 grams
- Mozzarella cheese - 100 grams, shredded
- Red bell pepper - 50 grams, sliced
- Fresh cilantro - 10 grams, chopped
- Olive oil - 10 ml
Steps
- In a pot, combine the pork belly, soy sauce, rice wine, brown sugar, sliced ginger, minced garlic, star anise, and enough water to cover the pork. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour until the pork is tender.
- Remove the pork belly from the pot and let it cool slightly. Once cooled, cut it into small cubes.
- Preheat the oven to 220°C (428°F). Roll out the whole wheat pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
- Place the rolled-out dough on a baking sheet or pizza stone. Brush with olive oil and sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the base.
- Distribute the cubed braised pork belly, sliced red bell pepper, and remaining mozzarella cheese on top. Sprinkle chopped green onions over the pizza.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
- Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a couple of minutes. Garnish with fresh cilantro before slicing and serving.
