Ingredients

  • Pork belly - 250 grams
  • Soy sauce - 30 ml
  • Rice wine - 15 ml
  • Brown sugar - 10 grams
  • Ginger - 10 grams, sliced
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Star anise - 1 piece
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Whole wheat pizza dough - 200 grams
  • Mozzarella cheese - 100 grams, shredded
  • Red bell pepper - 50 grams, sliced
  • Fresh cilantro - 10 grams, chopped
  • Olive oil - 10 ml

Steps

  1. In a pot, combine the pork belly, soy sauce, rice wine, brown sugar, sliced ginger, minced garlic, star anise, and enough water to cover the pork. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour until the pork is tender.
  2. Remove the pork belly from the pot and let it cool slightly. Once cooled, cut it into small cubes.
  3. Preheat the oven to 220°C (428°F). Roll out the whole wheat pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  4. Place the rolled-out dough on a baking sheet or pizza stone. Brush with olive oil and sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the base.
  5. Distribute the cubed braised pork belly, sliced red bell pepper, and remaining mozzarella cheese on top. Sprinkle chopped green onions over the pizza.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
  7. Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a couple of minutes. Garnish with fresh cilantro before slicing and serving.
