  • Oyster sauce - 15 ml
  • Rice wine - 15 ml
  • Beef broth - 200 ml
  • Ginger - 10 grams, sliced
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Star anise - 1
  • Cinnamon stick - 1
  • Sesame oil - 5 ml
  • Vegetable oil - 10 ml
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium-high heat and add the beef pieces, browning them on all sides for about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Add the ginger and garlic, sautéing for another 2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice wine, and beef broth, stirring to combine.
  4. Add the star anise, cinnamon stick, and black pepper, then bring the mixture to a boil.
  5. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for 90 minutes, stirring occasionally until the beef is tender.
  6. Once cooked, remove the lid, and increase the heat to medium to reduce the sauce for an additional 10 minutes.
  7. Drizzle with sesame oil and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
