- Star anise - 1
- Cinnamon stick - 1
- Sesame oil - 5 ml
- Vegetable oil - 10 ml
- Black pepper - to taste
Steps
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium-high heat and add the beef pieces, browning them on all sides for about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the ginger and garlic, sautéing for another 2 minutes until fragrant.
- Pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice wine, and beef broth, stirring to combine.
- Add the star anise, cinnamon stick, and black pepper, then bring the mixture to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for 90 minutes, stirring occasionally until the beef is tender.
- Once cooked, remove the lid, and increase the heat to medium to reduce the sauce for an additional 10 minutes.
- Drizzle with sesame oil and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
