- Beef brisket - 500 grams
- Soy sauce - 60 ml
- Dark soy sauce - 30 ml
- Water - 500 ml
- Brown sugar - 15 grams
- Ginger, sliced - 10 grams
- Garlic, minced - 4 cloves
- Star anise - 2 pieces
- Cinnamon stick - 1 piece
- Green onions, chopped - 2 stalks
- Sesame oil - 15 ml
- Salt - 5 grams
- Black pepper - 2 grams
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 160°C (320°F).
- In a large oven-safe pot, heat sesame oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sliced ginger, sautéing until aromatic.
- Add the beef brisket to the pot, browning it on all sides for about 5-7 minutes.
- Pour in the soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and water, stirring to combine.
- Add brown sugar, star anise, cinnamon stick, salt, and black pepper to the pot, mixing well.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then cover the pot and transfer it to the preheated oven.
- Braise in the oven for 2-2.5 hours, or until the brisket is fork-tender.
- Once done, remove the pot from the oven, and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
- Serve the brisket with chopped green onions on top.
