  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Star anise - 1 piece
  • Cinnamon stick - 1 piece
  • Green onions, chopped - 2 stalks
  • Water - 250 ml
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Heat the sesame oil in a heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and ginger, sautéing until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add the diced beef chuck to the pot, browning it on all sides.
  4. Pour in the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, and water, stirring to combine.
  5. Add the star anise and cinnamon stick for flavor.
  6. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot.
  7. Let it simmer for about 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally, until the beef is tender.
  8. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  9. Remove from heat, discard the star anise and cinnamon stick, and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
