Ingredients

  • all-purpose flour - 150g
  • water - 75ml
  • sugar - 25g
  • yeast - 5g
  • salt - 2g
  • vegetable oil - 15ml
  • black sesame seeds - 50g
  • black sesame paste - 50g
  • milk - 30ml

Steps

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Once mixed, add the frothy yeast mixture and vegetable oil.
  3. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Form it into a ball and place it in a lightly oiled bowl, covering it with a damp cloth.
  4. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes, or until it doubles in size.
  5. While the dough is rising, prepare the filling by mixing black sesame paste with crushed black sesame seeds in a bowl.
  6. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle shape on a floured surface.
  7. Spread the black sesame filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  8. Roll the dough tightly into a log shape, then slice it into 6 equal pieces.
  9. Place the rolls into a greased baking dish and let them rise for an additional 15 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Brush the tops of the rolls with milk for a golden finish.
