Ingredients
- Firm tofu - 300 grams
- Black bean sauce - 3 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Fresh ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped
- Red bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
- Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
- Lime - 1, juiced
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped (for garnish)
Steps
- Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1 cm thick slices.
- In a bowl, mix together the black bean sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and lime juice to create a marinade.
- Place the tofu slices in the marinade and let them soak for at least 10 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure even coverage.
- Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat and brush it lightly with vegetable oil.
- Remove the tofu from the marinade and place it on the grill. Grill each side for about 4-5 minutes until grill marks appear and the tofu is heated through.
- During the last few minutes of grilling, add the sliced red bell pepper to the grill to char slightly.
- Once cooked, remove the tofu and bell peppers from the grill and sprinkle with chopped green onions and cilantro.
- Serve the grilled tofu with the charred red bell peppers on the side, drizzled with any remaining marinade if desired.
