  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
  • Chinese five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Bao buns - 2 pieces
  • Cucumber - 1/2 (sliced thinly)
  • Fresh cilantro - 1/4 cup (chopped)
  • Sriracha - to taste (optional)

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, mash the cooked black beans until mostly smooth, leaving some texture.
  2. Add the cooked quinoa, chopped green onion, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, Chinese five-spice powder, salt, and black pepper to the mashed beans. Mix well until combined.
  3. Form the mixture into two burger patties.
