Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 200 grams
- Water - 100 ml
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Ground halal chicken - 250 grams
- Green onions - 2 stalks, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Egg - 1, beaten (for egg wash)
- Vegetable oil - for greasing
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, water, and salt to form a dough. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth, then cover and let rest for 15 minutes.
- In another bowl, mix the ground halal chicken, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, and black pepper until well combined.
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and lightly grease a baking tray with vegetable oil.
- Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll each portion into a thin circle (about 10 cm in diameter).
- Place a generous spoonful of the chicken mixture in the center of each dough circle, then fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and seal the edges by pressing with a fork.
- Brush the tops of the sealed pastries with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Place the pastries on the prepared baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
