Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 200 grams
  • Water - 100 ml
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ground halal chicken - 250 grams
  • Green onions - 2 stalks, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Egg - 1, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Vegetable oil - for greasing

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, water, and salt to form a dough. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth, then cover and let rest for 15 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, mix the ground halal chicken, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, and black pepper until well combined.
  3. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and lightly grease a baking tray with vegetable oil.
  4. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll each portion into a thin circle (about 10 cm in diameter).
  5. Place a generous spoonful of the chicken mixture in the center of each dough circle, then fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and seal the edges by pressing with a fork.
  6. Brush the tops of the sealed pastries with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  7. Place the pastries on the prepared baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
