Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 250 grams
  • Warm water - 150 ml
  • Active dry yeast - 5 grams
  • Sugar - 10 grams
  • Salt - 5 grams
  • Ground chicken - 200 grams
  • Scallions - 50 grams, finely chopped
  • Soy sauce - 15 ml
  • Sesame oil - 10 ml
  • Black pepper - 2 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Egg - 1, beaten (for egg wash)

Steps

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve sugar and yeast in warm water, and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add the yeast mixture and knead until a smooth dough forms (about 10 minutes).
  3. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
  4. While the dough is rising, prepare the filling by mixing ground chicken, scallions, soy sauce, sesame oil, black pepper, and minced garlic in a bowl.
  5. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a circle about 10 cm in diameter.
  6. Place 1-2 tablespoons of the chicken mixture in the center of each circle, then fold the edges over to seal, pinching to ensure they are well closed.
  7. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Place the filled Bing Tang on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Brush the tops of the Bing Tang with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your Bing Tang warm.
