Ingredients

  • Beef (top round or flank steak) - 300 grams
  • Soy sauce - 60 ml
  • Hoisin sauce - 30 ml
  • Honey - 15 grams
  • Rice vinegar - 15 ml
  • Garlic powder - 5 grams
  • Ginger powder - 5 grams
  • Red pepper flakes - 2 grams
  • Black pepper - 1 gram
  • Sesame oil - 10 ml

Steps

  1. Slice the beef into thin strips, about 0.5 cm thick, and place them in a large bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, rice vinegar, garlic powder, ginger powder, red pepper flakes, black pepper, and sesame oil to create the marinade.
  3. Pour the marinade over the beef strips, ensuring they are well-coated, and cover the bowl. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours or overnight for best results.
  4. Preheat the oven to 70°C (160°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  5. Arrange the marinated beef strips in a single layer on the baking sheet, ensuring they do not overlap.
  6. Place the baking sheet in the oven and leave the door slightly ajar to allow moisture to escape. Dry the beef for 3 to 4 hours, or until they reach your desired texture, flipping halfway through.
  7. Once dried, remove the beef jerky from the oven and let it cool completely before storing it in an airtight container.
