Ingredients
- Beef brisket - 300 grams
- Water - 1 liter
- Ginger - 15 grams, sliced
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Soy sauce - 30 ml
- Star anise - 2 pieces
- Cinnamon stick - 1 piece
- Daikon radish - 100 grams, sliced
- Carrot - 100 grams, sliced
- Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Fresh cilantro - for garnish
Steps
- In a large pot, combine the water, beef brisket, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, star anise, and cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for about 90 minutes, or until the brisket is tender.
- Remove the brisket from the pot and let it cool slightly. Shred the brisket into bite-sized pieces, discarding any excess fat.
- Add the sliced daikon radish and carrot to the pot, and continue to simmer for an additional 15 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.
- Return the shredded brisket to the pot, and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Stir well and let it heat through for about 5 minutes.
- Ladle the soup into bowls and garnish with chopped green onions and fresh cilantro before serving.
