Ingredients

  • Beef sirloin - 200 grams, thinly sliced
  • Firm tofu - 150 grams, cubed
  • Vegetable broth - 500 ml
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Spring onions - 2, chopped
  • Mushrooms (shiitake or button) - 100 grams, sliced
  • Chinese cabbage - 100 grams, chopped
  • Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
  • Red chili - 1, sliced (optional)
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Fresh cilantro - for garnish

Steps

  1. Prepare all ingredients by slicing the beef, cubing the tofu, and chopping the vegetables.
  2. In a pot, heat sesame oil over medium heat and sauté minced garlic and grated ginger until fragrant.
  3. Add the sliced beef to the pot and cook until it starts to brown, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Pour in the vegetable broth and soy sauce, then bring to a simmer.
  5. Add the mushrooms, carrot, and Chinese cabbage to the pot. Simmer for another 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
  6. Gently add the cubed tofu and sliced red chili (if using) to the pot, simmering for an additional 5 minutes.
  7. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Remove from heat.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with chopped spring onions and fresh cilantro.
