- Beef sirloin - 200 grams, thinly sliced
- Firm tofu - 150 grams, cubed
- Vegetable broth - 500 ml
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Spring onions - 2, chopped
- Mushrooms (shiitake or button) - 100 grams, sliced
- Chinese cabbage - 100 grams, chopped
- Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
- Red chili - 1, sliced (optional)
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Fresh cilantro - for garnish
Steps
- Prepare all ingredients by slicing the beef, cubing the tofu, and chopping the vegetables.
- In a pot, heat sesame oil over medium heat and sauté minced garlic and grated ginger until fragrant.
- Add the sliced beef to the pot and cook until it starts to brown, about 2-3 minutes.
- Pour in the vegetable broth and soy sauce, then bring to a simmer.
- Add the mushrooms, carrot, and Chinese cabbage to the pot. Simmer for another 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
- Gently add the cubed tofu and sliced red chili (if using) to the pot, simmering for an additional 5 minutes.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Remove from heat.
- Serve hot, garnished with chopped spring onions and fresh cilantro.
