Ingredients
- Ground beef - 250 grams
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Oyster sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Frozen puff pastry - 1 sheet (about 250 grams)
- Egg - 1 (for egg wash)
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F).
- In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and ginger to the skillet and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, black pepper, salt, coriander powder, and cumin powder. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the mixture is well combined. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut out two circles large enough to fit your pie dish.
- Press one pastry circle into the bottom of the pie dish. Fill with the beef and onion mixture.
- Cover with the second pastry circle, sealing the edges by crimping with a fork. Cut a few slits in the top to allow steam to escape.
- Beat the egg and brush it over the top of the pastry for a golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve warm.
