Ingredients

  • Ground beef - 250 grams
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Oyster sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Frozen puff pastry - 1 sheet (about 250 grams)
  • Egg - 1 (for egg wash)

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F).
  2. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic and ginger to the skillet and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Stir in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, black pepper, salt, coriander powder, and cumin powder. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the mixture is well combined. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  6. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut out two circles large enough to fit your pie dish.
  7. Press one pastry circle into the bottom of the pie dish. Fill with the beef and onion mixture.
  8. Cover with the second pastry circle, sealing the edges by crimping with a fork. Cut a few slits in the top to allow steam to escape.
  9. Beat the egg and brush it over the top of the pastry for a golden finish.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
  11. Remove from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve warm.
