Ingredients

  • Beef sirloin - 250 grams, thinly sliced
  • Shiitake mushrooms - 100 grams, sliced
  • Bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Broccoli florets - 100 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
  • Gluten-free soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Cornstarch - 1 teaspoon
  • Rice (jasmine or basmati) - 150 grams, uncooked
  • Water - 300 ml
  • Green onions - 2, chopped for garnish
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon for garnish

Steps

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then combine with 300 ml of water in a pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes or until the water is absorbed and the rice is fluffy.
  2. While the rice is cooking, mix the sliced beef with cornstarch and set aside for 10 minutes.
  3. Heat sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add the beef to the skillet, stirring frequently until browned for about 3-4 minutes. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add the sliced shiitake mushrooms, bell pepper, and broccoli florets. Stir-fry for about 5-6 minutes until the vegetables are tender yet crisp.
  6. Return the beef to the skillet and add the gluten-free soy sauce. Stir everything together and cook for another 2-3 minutes to combine flavors.
  7. Serve the beef and mushroom stir-fry over the cooked rice, garnishing with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
