Ingredients

  • Beef (flank or sirloin) - 200 grams, thinly sliced
  • Green beans - 200 grams, trimmed
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
  • Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons (ensure it's halal)
  • Oyster sauce - 1 tablespoon (ensure it's halal)
  • Cornstarch - 1 teaspoon
  • Water - 2 tablespoons
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Spring onions - 2, chopped (for garnish)

Steps

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, water, and black pepper to create the stir-fry sauce.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the sliced beef and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the minced garlic and ginger, stirring for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add the trimmed green beans to the pan and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until they are bright green and tender-crisp.
  5. Return the cooked beef to the pan and pour in the stir-fry sauce. Toss everything together for another 2-3 minutes until the beef is heated through and the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Drizzle with sesame oil and mix well before serving. Garnish with chopped spring onions.
