Ingredients
- Halal beef (chuck or brisket) - 250 grams, diced
- Cabbage (green or Napa) - 200 grams, chopped
- Carrot - 1 medium (about 100 grams), diced
- Onion - 1 medium (about 100 grams), chopped
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Beef broth - 500 milliliters
- Water - 250 milliliters
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped (for garnish)
- Red chili flakes - optional, to taste
Steps
- In a large pot, heat the sesame oil over medium heat. Add the diced halal beef and brown it on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the chopped onion, garlic, and ginger to the pot. Sauté for another 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent.
- Stir in the diced carrot and chopped cabbage, cooking for about 5 minutes until the cabbage begins to wilt.
- Pour in the beef broth and water, then add the soy sauce, black pepper, and salt to taste. Bring the soup to a boil.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 25-30 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the beef to become tender.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions and a sprinkle of red chili flakes if desired.
