Ingredients
- Pork belly - 300 grams
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Hoisin sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
- Lettuce leaves - 4 large (butter or romaine)
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Cilantro - a handful, for garnish
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and five-spice powder to create a marinade.
- Cut the pork belly into small strips and coat them thoroughly with the marinade. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, or longer if possible for more flavor.
- Place the marinated pork belly on a baking tray lined with aluminum foil and roast in the oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until the pork is crispy on the outside and tender inside.
- While the pork is cooking, prepare the lettuce leaves by washing them and patting them dry.
- Once the pork is done, let it rest for a few minutes before slicing it into bite-sized pieces.
- To assemble, place a few pieces of pork belly in each lettuce leaf, drizzle with sesame oil, and top with chopped green onions and cilantro.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your low-carb BBQ pork belly buns!
