Ingredients
- Pork belly - 400 grams
- Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
- Hoisin sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Chinese five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Green onions - 2, chopped (for garnish)
Steps
- Cut the pork belly into strips, about 2.5 cm wide.
- In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, five-spice powder, and sesame oil to create the marinade.
- Place the pork belly strips in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Ensure the pork is well coated. Seal or cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight for maximum flavor.
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking tray with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
- Arrange the marinated pork belly strips on the prepared baking tray, reserving the marinade.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, then turn the strips over and brush with some of the reserved marinade. Bake for another 15-20 minutes or until the pork is caramelized and cooked through.
- Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
- Serve the BBQ pork belly garnished with chopped green onions.
