Ingredients
- Duck breast - 400 grams
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Honey - 1 tablespoon
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 inch, grated
- Scallions - 2, chopped
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Fresh cilantro - for garnish
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F).
- In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, five-spice powder, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, and salt to create a marinade.
- Score the skin of the duck breasts in a diamond pattern, being careful not to cut into the meat.
- Place the duck breasts in the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours for deeper flavor).
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and place the duck breasts skin-side down. Cook for about 6-8 minutes until the skin is crispy and golden brown.
- Flip the duck breasts and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes on the meat side.
- Transfer the duck breasts to a baking dish, skin-side up, and brush with any remaining marinade.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 75°C (165°F).
- Remove from the oven and let the duck rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
- Serve the sliced duck topped with chopped scallions and fresh cilantro.
