Ingredients

  • Beef ribs - 800 grams
  • Soy sauce - 60 ml
  • Hoisin sauce - 30 ml
  • Honey - 30 grams
  • Rice vinegar - 15 ml
  • Five spice powder - 5 grams
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 10 grams, grated
  • Sesame oil - 15 ml
  • Spring onions - 2 stalks, chopped for garnish
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Preheat your grill or oven to 150°C (300°F).
  2. In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, rice vinegar, five spice powder, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper to create the marinade.
  3. Place the beef ribs in a large dish and pour the marinade over them, ensuring they are well-coated. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
  4. After marinating, remove the ribs from the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  5. Place the marinated beef ribs on the grill or in the oven on a baking tray lined with foil. Cook for about 2 to 2.5 hours, basting with remaining marinade every 30 minutes until the ribs are tender and caramelized.
  6. Once cooked, let the ribs rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  7. Garnish with chopped spring onions and serve with steamed rice or your choice of sides.
