Ingredients
- Beef ribs - 800 grams
- Soy sauce - 60 ml
- Hoisin sauce - 30 ml
- Honey - 30 grams
- Rice vinegar - 15 ml
- Five spice powder - 5 grams
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 10 grams, grated
- Sesame oil - 15 ml
- Spring onions - 2 stalks, chopped for garnish
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
Steps
- Preheat your grill or oven to 150°C (300°F).
- In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, rice vinegar, five spice powder, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper to create the marinade.
- Place the beef ribs in a large dish and pour the marinade over them, ensuring they are well-coated. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
- After marinating, remove the ribs from the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
- Place the marinated beef ribs on the grill or in the oven on a baking tray lined with foil. Cook for about 2 to 2.5 hours, basting with remaining marinade every 30 minutes until the ribs are tender and caramelized.
- Once cooked, let the ribs rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
- Garnish with chopped spring onions and serve with steamed rice or your choice of sides.
