- Firm tofu - 200 grams
- Puff pastry sheets - 1 sheet (approximately 250 grams)
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Green onion - 2 tablespoons, finely chopped
- Garlic - 1 clove, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
- Carrot - 1 small, grated
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water) - for brushing
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Press the firm tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into small cubes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the tofu cubes, soy sauce, sesame oil, green onion, garlic, ginger, cornstarch, grated carrot, salt, and pepper. Mix gently to coat the tofu evenly.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface and cut it into squares, approximately 10 cm x 10 cm.
- Place a spoonful of the tofu mixture in the center of each puff pastry square.
- Fold the pastry over to create a triangle or envelope shape and seal the edges by pinching them together.
- Brush the tops of the pastries with the egg wash for a golden finish.
- Arrange the filled puff pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until they are golden brown and puffed up.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
