Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 200 grams
  • Puff pastry sheets - 1 sheet (approximately 250 grams)
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Green onion - 2 tablespoons, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
  • Carrot - 1 small, grated
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water) - for brushing

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Press the firm tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into small cubes.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the tofu cubes, soy sauce, sesame oil, green onion, garlic, ginger, cornstarch, grated carrot, salt, and pepper. Mix gently to coat the tofu evenly.
  4. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface and cut it into squares, approximately 10 cm x 10 cm.
  5. Place a spoonful of the tofu mixture in the center of each puff pastry square.
  6. Fold the pastry over to create a triangle or envelope shape and seal the edges by pinching them together.
  7. Brush the tops of the pastries with the egg wash for a golden finish.
  8. Arrange the filled puff pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until they are golden brown and puffed up.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
