Ingredients
- Taro root - 250 grams
- All-purpose flour - 100 grams
- Warm water - 60 ml
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Green onions - 2 tablespoons, finely chopped
- Mushrooms (shiitake or button) - 50 grams, finely chopped
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Peel and cube the taro root, then steam it for about 15 minutes until tender.
- In a bowl, mash the steamed taro until smooth. Add chopped green onions, mushrooms, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, black pepper, and cornstarch. Mix well and let it cool.
- In another bowl, combine all-purpose flour, warm water, and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to form a dough. Knead for a couple of minutes until smooth.
- Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and roll each portion into a thin circle on a floured surface.
- Place a tablespoon of the taro filling in the center of each circle. Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and seal the edges by pressing them together.
- Place the puffs on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with the remaining vegetable oil.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
