Ingredients

  • Chicken thighs (bone-in, skin-on) - 400 grams
  • Soy sauce - 60 ml
  • Honey - 2 tablespoons (30 ml)
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon (15 ml)
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon (15 ml)
  • Garlic (minced) - 3 cloves
  • Ginger (grated) - 1 tablespoon
  • Green onions (sliced) - 2 stalks
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red chili flakes - 1/2 teaspoon (optional)
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, black pepper, and red chili flakes to create the marinade.
  3. Add the chicken thighs to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated. Allow the chicken to marinate for at least 30 minutes (or up to overnight in the refrigerator for enhanced flavor).
  4. Place the marinated chicken thighs in a baking dish, skin side up, and pour any remaining marinade over the top.
  5. Bake the chicken in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 75°C (165°F) and the skin is crispy.
  6. Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  7. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
