Ingredients

  • Glutinous rice flour - 100 grams
  • Water - 120 milliliters
  • Brown sugar - 30 grams
  • Red bean paste - 60 grams
  • Sesame seeds - 50 grams
  • Coconut oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Baking powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - a pinch

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine glutinous rice flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
  3. In a small saucepan, heat the water and brown sugar over low heat until the sugar dissolves.
  4. Gradually pour the warm sugar water into the flour mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
  5. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  6. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions.
  7. Flatten each portion into a disc, place about 1 tablespoon of red bean paste in the center, and wrap the dough around the filling, rolling it into a ball.
  8. Roll each ball in sesame seeds to coat them evenly.
  9. Place the sesame balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  10. Brush the tops lightly with melted coconut oil.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown, turning halfway through for even baking.
  12. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
