Ingredients
- Pork chops - 2 pieces (about 200g each)
- Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
- Honey - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Rice - 1 cup (200g), jasmine or basmati
- Water - 2 cups (500ml)
- Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
- Green onions - 2, sliced for garnish
- Sesame seeds - 1 teaspoon, for garnish
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create a marinade.
- Place the pork chops in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Let them marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- In a medium saucepan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the rice and stir for about 2 minutes until slightly toasted.
- Add water to the rice, season with salt and pepper, and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
- While the rice is cooking, heat a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the marinated pork chops for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Remove the skillet from heat and spread the cooked rice evenly in the skillet around the pork chops.
- Cover the skillet with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
- After 20 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes to allow the chops to caramelize.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
