Ingredients

  • Pork chops - 2 pieces (about 200g each)
  • Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Honey - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Rice - 1 cup (200g), jasmine or basmati
  • Water - 2 cups (500ml)
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Green onions - 2, sliced for garnish
  • Sesame seeds - 1 teaspoon, for garnish
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create a marinade.
  3. Place the pork chops in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Let them marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  4. In a medium saucepan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the rice and stir for about 2 minutes until slightly toasted.
  5. Add water to the rice, season with salt and pepper, and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
  6. While the rice is cooking, heat a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the marinated pork chops for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  7. Remove the skillet from heat and spread the cooked rice evenly in the skillet around the pork chops.
  8. Cover the skillet with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
  9. After 20 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes to allow the chops to caramelize.
  10. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
