- Jasmine rice - 150 grams
- Dried lotus leaves - 2 pieces
- Chicken breast - 100 grams, diced
- Mushrooms - 50 grams, sliced
- Carrot - 1 small, diced
- Bell pepper - 1 small, diced
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
- Garlic - 1 teaspoon, minced
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Water - 300 milliliters
Steps
- Soak the dried lotus leaves in warm water for about 30 minutes until they are pliable.
- Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for 20 minutes.
- In a pan, heat the sesame oil over medium heat. Add the minced ginger and garlic, sautéing until fragrant.
- Add the diced chicken breast to the pan and cook until lightly browned. Then add the sliced mushrooms, diced carrot, and bell pepper, cooking for an additional 5 minutes.
- Stir in the soy sauce, green onions, salt, and black pepper, mixing well. Remove from heat.
- Drain the soaked rice and mix it with the chicken and vegetable mixture.
- Take one lotus leaf and place a portion of the rice mixture in the center. Fold the leaf over to wrap it securely, then tie it with kitchen twine or string.
- Repeat the wrapping process with the second lotus leaf and remaining rice mixture.
- Place the wrapped lotus leaves in a steaming basket over boiling water or in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 30-35 minutes.
- Once cooked, unwrap the lotus leaves, fluff the rice with a fork, and serve warm.
