Ingredients

  • Lean ground turkey - 250 grams
  • Quinoa - 50 grams
  • Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Whole grain burger buns - 2
  • Ripe avocado - 1, diced
  • Tomato - 1, diced
  • Red onion - 1/4, finely chopped
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - to taste

Steps

  1. Cook quinoa according to package instructions; set aside to cool.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, cooked quinoa, cilantro, minced garlic, paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until combined.
  3. Form the mixture into two equal patties.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, then add the patties. Cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 75°C.
  5. While the patties are cooking, prepare the avocado salsa by mixing diced avocado, tomato, red onion, lime juice, and salt in a bowl.
  6. Once the patties are cooked, assemble the burgers by placing each patty on a whole grain bun and topping it with the avocado salsa.
  7. Serve immediately.
