Ingredients
- White fish fillets (e.g., tilapia or cod) - 200 grams
- Fish stock - 500 ml
- Manioc flour (farinha de mandioca) - 100 grams
- Onion - 1 medium, diced
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Tomato - 1 medium, diced
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Lime - 1, juiced
Steps
- In a medium pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent.
- Add the diced tomato to the pot and cook for another 2-3 minutes until softened.
- Pour in the fish stock and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
- Once boiling, add the fish fillets and reduce the heat to low. Cook for about 10 minutes until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily.
- Remove the fish from the pot and set aside. Use a fork to break the fish into bite-sized pieces.
- Slowly whisk in the manioc flour to the fish stock, stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Continue to cook for about 5 minutes until the mixture thickens to a porridge-like consistency.
- Return the broken fish to the pot, and season with salt, black pepper, and lime juice. Stir well to combine.
- Remove from heat and stir in the chopped cilantro before serving.
