- Soy protein (textured vegetable protein) - 200 grams
- Soy sauce - 4 tablespoons
- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Bell pepper - 1 medium, diced
- Farofa (toasted manioc flour) - 100 grams
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Tomato - 1 medium, diced
- Cilantro - 1 tablespoon, chopped
Steps
- Soak the soy protein in warm water for 15 minutes until rehydrated, then drain and squeeze out excess water.
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, garlic powder, smoked paprika, olive oil, lemon juice, black pepper, and salt. Add the rehydrated soy protein and mix well. Let it marinate for at least 10 minutes.
- In a skillet over medium heat, add a little olive oil and sauté the chopped onion until translucent.
- Add the marinated soy protein to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until browned.
- Stir in the diced bell pepper and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until tender.
- To prepare the farofa, toast the manioc flour in a separate pan over medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently until golden brown.
- In a bowl, combine the toasted farofa with chopped parsley and set aside.
- For the salsa, mix the diced tomato and cilantro in a small bowl, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the soy protein mixture with a generous scoop of farofa and a side of fresh salsa.
