- all-purpose flour - 250 grams
- warm water - 150 ml
- active dry yeast - 5 grams
- sugar - 5 grams
- salt - 5 grams
- olive oil - 10 ml
Steps
- In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, mix the flour and salt together.
- Once the yeast mixture is frothy, add it to the flour mixture along with the olive oil.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 220°C (428°F).
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 4 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a small baguette or oval roll.
- Place the shaped dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let it rest for another 20 minutes.
- Make shallow slashes on the top of each roll with a sharp knife and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
