Ingredients
- Pasta (spaghetti or fusilli) - 150 grams
- Broccoli florets - 200 grams
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic cloves (minced) - 2
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Parmesan cheese (grated) - 30 grams
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Red pepper flakes - 1/4 teaspoon (optional)
Steps
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
- While the pasta is cooking, steam the broccoli florets in a separate pot for about 5-7 minutes until they are bright green and tender.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Once the pasta is cooked, reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water, then drain the pasta and add it to the skillet with the garlic oil.
- Add the steamed broccoli to the pasta in the skillet. Toss everything together, adding the reserved pasta water a bit at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
- Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir in the lemon juice and grated Parmesan cheese until well combined.
- Serve hot, garnished with additional Parmesan and a drizzle of olive oil if desired.
