Ingredients
- sorghum - 100 grams
- water - 500 milliliters
- carrot - 1 medium, grated
- onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- coriander - 1 tablespoon, chopped
- cumin - 1 teaspoon
- salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- whole wheat flour - 50 grams
- avocado - 1, sliced
- tomato - 1, sliced
- lettuce - 2 leaves
- whole grain burger buns - 2
Steps
- Rinse the sorghum under cold water and then boil it in 500 milliliters of water for about 30 minutes or until tender. Drain and set aside to cool.
- In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the onion and garlic until translucent.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked sorghum, sautéed onion and garlic, grated carrot, chopped coriander, cumin, salt, and black pepper.
- Mix in the whole wheat flour until the mixture holds together. Form the mixture into two patties.
- Wipe the skillet clean and heat the remaining tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- To assemble, place each patty on a whole grain burger bun and top with sliced avocado, tomato, and lettuce. Serve immediately.
