  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Cook the fettuccine according to the package instructions in salted boiling water until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
  2. While the pasta is cooking, prepare the pesto by combining the fresh basil, grated Parmesan cheese, pine nuts, garlic, and lemon juice in a food processor.
  3. Blend the mixture while gradually adding the olive oil until it forms a smooth paste. You can adjust the consistency with more oil if needed.
  4. Season the pesto with salt and black pepper to taste.
  5. Once the fettuccine is done, reserve 1/4 cup of the pasta cooking water and drain the rest.
  6. In a large mixing bowl, combine the fettuccine with the pesto, adding reserved pasta water as needed to achieve the desired creaminess.
