Ingredients

  • Black beans - 200 grams
  • Pork shoulder, cubed - 150 grams
  • Beef brisket, cubed - 150 grams
  • Smoked sausage, sliced - 100 grams
  • Chorizo sausage, sliced - 100 grams
  • Onion, chopped - 1 medium
  • Garlic, minced - 3 cloves
  • Bay leaves - 2
  • Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Orange, sliced - 1 for serving
  • Rice, cooked - 300 grams for serving

Steps

  1. Soak the black beans in water overnight, then drain and rinse them.
  2. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until softened and translucent.
  3. Add the cubed pork shoulder and beef brisket to the pot, browning them on all sides.
  4. Stir in the sliced smoked sausage and chorizo, cooking for an additional 5 minutes.
  5. Add the soaked black beans, bay leaves, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper to the pot. Cover with water (about 1 liter) and bring to a boil.
  6. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let simmer for about 1.5 hours, or until the beans and meats are tender.
  7. Once cooked, adjust seasoning with more salt and pepper if necessary. Remove bay leaves before serving.
  8. Serve the Feijoada with cooked rice and garnish with orange slices.
