- Black beans - 200 grams
- Pork shoulder, cubed - 150 grams
- Beef brisket, cubed - 150 grams
- Smoked sausage, sliced - 100 grams
- Chorizo sausage, sliced - 100 grams
- Onion, chopped - 1 medium
- Garlic, minced - 3 cloves
- Bay leaves - 2
- Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Orange, sliced - 1 for serving
- Rice, cooked - 300 grams for serving
Steps
- Soak the black beans in water overnight, then drain and rinse them.
- In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until softened and translucent.
- Add the cubed pork shoulder and beef brisket to the pot, browning them on all sides.
- Stir in the sliced smoked sausage and chorizo, cooking for an additional 5 minutes.
- Add the soaked black beans, bay leaves, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper to the pot. Cover with water (about 1 liter) and bring to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let simmer for about 1.5 hours, or until the beans and meats are tender.
- Once cooked, adjust seasoning with more salt and pepper if necessary. Remove bay leaves before serving.
- Serve the Feijoada with cooked rice and garnish with orange slices.
