Ingredients

  • Fresh spinach - 200 grams
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Parmesan cheese - 20 grams, grated (optional)

Steps

  1. Rinse the fresh spinach thoroughly under cold water to remove any dirt or grit. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  4. Add the rinsed spinach to the skillet, stirring gently to combine with the onion and garlic. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the spinach wilts and reduces in volume.
  5. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. If using, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the top and mix well to incorporate.
  6. Remove from heat and serve warm as a side dish.
