Ingredients

  • Spaghetti - 200 grams
  • Ground beef - 250 grams
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Parmesan cheese - 30 grams, grated
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Breadcrumbs - 50 grams
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Canned crushed tomatoes - 400 grams
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Water - 1.5 liters

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, egg, grated Parmesan, minced garlic, chopped onion, parsley, breadcrumbs, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 3-4 cm in diameter.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and brown them on all sides for about 6-8 minutes. Remove the meatballs and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Stir well and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover, and let them simmer in the sauce for an additional 10 minutes.
  6. Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes.
  7. Drain the spaghetti and serve it on plates topped with the meatballs and sauce. Garnish with extra Parmesan and parsley if desired.
