- Tomato paste - 2 tablespoons
- Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Fresh basil - 5 leaves, chopped
- Parmesan cheese - 30 grams, grated (optional)
Steps
- Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions in salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add minced garlic, diced carrot, and diced celery to the skillet. Cook for another 5 minutes until the vegetables soften.
- Increase the heat to medium-high and add the halal ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Add the chopped fresh basil to the sauce, stirring to combine.
- Toss the cooked spaghetti in the sauce until well coated. Serve hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
