Ingredients

  • Whole milk - 500 ml
  • Honey - 50 g
  • Vanilla extract - 1 tsp
  • Baking soda - 1/4 tsp
  • Cinnamon powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt - a pinch

Steps

  1. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the whole milk and honey over medium heat.
  2. Stir the mixture gently until the honey is completely dissolved.
  3. Add the vanilla extract, baking soda, cinnamon powder, and a pinch of salt to the milk mixture, stirring well.
  4. Continue to cook the mixture, stirring frequently to prevent it from sticking to the bottom, until it thickens, about 45-50 minutes.
  5. Once it reaches a caramel-like consistency, remove it from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
  6. Transfer the Doce de Leite to a glass jar or container and allow it to cool completely at room temperature before refrigerating.
