Steps
- In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the whole milk and honey over medium heat.
- Stir the mixture gently until the honey is completely dissolved.
- Add the vanilla extract, baking soda, cinnamon powder, and a pinch of salt to the milk mixture, stirring well.
- Continue to cook the mixture, stirring frequently to prevent it from sticking to the bottom, until it thickens, about 45-50 minutes.
- Once it reaches a caramel-like consistency, remove it from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Transfer the Doce de Leite to a glass jar or container and allow it to cool completely at room temperature before refrigerating.
