Ingredients

  • Chicken breast - 250 grams
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Cream cheese - 50 grams
  • Chicken broth - 250 ml
  • Flour - 150 grams
  • Butter - 30 grams
  • Egg - 1 large, beaten
  • Breadcrumbs - 100 grams
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - for frying

Steps

  1. In a pot, cook the chicken breast in boiling water until fully cooked, about 15-20 minutes. Remove the chicken, shred it, and set aside.
  2. In a skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until translucent.
  3. Add the shredded chicken to the skillet, along with cream cheese, salt, and black pepper. Mix well, and cook for 5 minutes. Set the filling aside to cool.
  4. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and stir continuously for about 2 minutes until golden.
  5. Gradually add the chicken broth, stirring constantly until a smooth dough forms. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  6. Once the dough is cool enough to handle, take a small portion, flatten it in your hand, and place a spoonful of the chicken filling in the center. Shape the dough around the filling into a teardrop shape.
  7. Repeat the process until all the dough and filling are used.
  8. Dip each coxinha into the beaten egg, then coat with breadcrumbs.
  9. In a deep pan, heat olive oil for frying. Fry the coxinhas in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
  10. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
