Ingredients

  • Collard greens - 200 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Red pepper flakes - 1/4 teaspoon (optional)
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Wash the collard greens thoroughly under running water and remove the tough stems. Stack the leaves, roll them up tightly, and slice them into thin ribbons.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for an additional 1 minute, stirring frequently to avoid burning.
  4. Add the sliced collard greens to the skillet, and stir well to combine with the onion and garlic. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the greens are tender but still vibrant.
  5. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Drizzle with lemon juice before serving. Toss well to combine.
  6. Remove from heat and serve immediately.
