  • Jalapeño pepper - 1, deseeded and finely chopped
  • Olive oil - 15 ml
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Avocado - 1 small, diced (optional)
  • Corn tortilla chips - for serving (optional)

Steps

  1. In a glass or ceramic bowl, combine the cubed white fish with lime juice and lemon juice. Ensure the fish is fully submerged in the juices.
  2. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 15-20 minutes, allowing the fish to 'cook' in the citrus marinade.
  3. While the fish is marinating, prepare the vegetables: finely slice the red onion, dice the tomato, chop the cilantro, and finely chop the jalapeño.
  4. Once the fish is opaque and firm, remove it from the refrigerator and drain excess marinade if desired.
  5. Add the prepared onion, tomato, cilantro, and jalapeño to the fish, and gently mix to combine.
  6. Drizzle with olive oil, and season with salt and black pepper to taste. If using, gently fold in the diced avocado.
