Ingredients
- Fresh white fish (like cod or tilapia) - 250 grams, cubed
- Fresh lime juice - 60 ml
- Fresh lemon juice - 30 ml
- Red onion - 50 grams, thinly sliced
- Tomato - 1 medium, diced
- Cilantro (fresh coriander) - 15 grams, chopped
- Jalapeño pepper - 1, deseeded and finely chopped
- Olive oil - 15 ml
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Avocado - 1 small, diced (optional)
- Corn tortilla chips - for serving (optional)
Steps
- In a glass or ceramic bowl, combine the cubed white fish with lime juice and lemon juice. Ensure the fish is fully submerged in the juices.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 15-20 minutes, allowing the fish to 'cook' in the citrus marinade.
- While the fish is marinating, prepare the vegetables: finely slice the red onion, dice the tomato, chop the cilantro, and finely chop the jalapeño.
- Once the fish is opaque and firm, remove it from the refrigerator and drain excess marinade if desired.
- Add the prepared onion, tomato, cilantro, and jalapeño to the fish, and gently mix to combine.
- Drizzle with olive oil, and season with salt and black pepper to taste. If using, gently fold in the diced avocado.
- Serve immediately with corn tortilla chips on the side for a delightful crunch.
