  • Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Fresh thyme - 1 tablespoon (or 1 teaspoon dried)
  • Balsamic vinegar - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Peel the onions and trim the root slightly, ensuring they remain whole.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and thyme.
  4. Place the onions on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and brush them generously with the olive oil mixture.
  5. Drizzle the balsamic vinegar over the onions.
  6. Cover the onions with aluminum foil and roast in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  7. After 30 minutes, remove the foil and roast for an additional 15 minutes until the onions are tender and caramelized.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
