  • Bell pepper - 1 medium, diced
  • Tomatoes - 2 medium, diced
  • Fish fillets (such as cod or tilapia) - 200 grams, cut into chunks
  • Shrimp - 150 grams, peeled and deveined
  • Mussels - 150 grams, cleaned
  • Cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
  • Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Water or fish stock - 500 ml
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and chopped onion, sautéing until the onion becomes translucent.

  3. Add the fish stock (or water) to the pot, followed by the paprika, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  4. Once simmering, add the fish chunks and cook for 5 minutes, allowing them to begin cooking through.
  5. Next, add the shrimp and mussels to the pot, cooking for another 5-7 minutes, or until the shrimp are pink and the mussels have opened.
  6. Stir in the chopped cilantro and lemon juice, adjusting seasoning as necessary.
  7. Remove from heat and let the caldeirada rest for a few minutes before serving hot.
