Ingredients

  • Heart of palm - 200 grams, finely chopped
  • Almond flour - 50 grams
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons, for cooking
  • Lettuce leaves - 4, for serving
  • Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
  • Avocado - 1 small, sliced

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the finely chopped heart of palm, almond flour, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and chopped parsley. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into two equal burger patties.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the burger patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. Remove the patties from the skillet and let them rest for a couple of minutes.
  5. To assemble, place each burger patty on a lettuce leaf, top with tomato and avocado slices, and add another lettuce leaf on top for a bun-like effect.
  6. Serve immediately and enjoy your low-carb Burguer de Palmito!
