- Black beans - 200 grams, cooked and drained
- Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Whole wheat flour - 50 grams
- Olive oil - for frying
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, mash the cooked black beans with a fork until slightly smooth but still chunky.
- Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, cilantro, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper to the mashed beans. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
- Sprinkle the whole wheat flour into the mixture and stir until the flour is fully incorporated, forming a thick batter.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and add enough olive oil to cover the bottom of the pan.
- Once the oil is hot, scoop tablespoon-sized portions of the batter and carefully drop them into the skillet, flattening them slightly.
- Fry the bolinhos for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the skillet and place on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot.
