Ingredients

  • Salted codfish - 200 grams
  • Potato - 150 grams
  • Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Egg - 1 large
  • All-purpose flour - 2 tablespoons
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Olive oil - for frying

Steps

  1. Soak the salted codfish in water for 24 hours, changing the water every 8 hours to remove excess salt.
  2. After soaking, drain and boil the codfish in fresh water for about 15 minutes until cooked. Drain and let it cool, then flake it into small pieces.
  3. Peel and boil the potato in salted water until tender, about 10-15 minutes. Drain and mash it in a bowl.
  4. In a pan, heat a little olive oil and sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until translucent.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine the flaked cod, mashed potato, sautéed onion and garlic, chopped parsley, and black pepper. Mix well.
  6. Add the egg and flour to the mixture, stirring until everything is well combined.
  7. Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Using a spoon, form small balls from the mixture and carefully place them in the hot oil.
  8. Fry the cod balls for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown.
  9. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels before serving.
