- Potato - 150 grams
- Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Egg - 1 large
- All-purpose flour - 2 tablespoons
- Black pepper - to taste
- Olive oil - for frying
Steps
- Soak the salted codfish in water for 24 hours, changing the water every 8 hours to remove excess salt.
- After soaking, drain and boil the codfish in fresh water for about 15 minutes until cooked. Drain and let it cool, then flake it into small pieces.
- Peel and boil the potato in salted water until tender, about 10-15 minutes. Drain and mash it in a bowl.
- In a pan, heat a little olive oil and sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until translucent.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flaked cod, mashed potato, sautéed onion and garlic, chopped parsley, and black pepper. Mix well.
- Add the egg and flour to the mixture, stirring until everything is well combined.
- Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Using a spoon, form small balls from the mixture and carefully place them in the hot oil.
- Fry the cod balls for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels before serving.
