- Black beans - 200 grams (cooked and drained)
- Cooked brown rice - 100 grams
- Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Carrot - 1 small, grated
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
- Chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon (or to taste)
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- All-purpose flour - 50 grams
- Olive oil - for frying
Steps
- In a large bowl, mash the cooked black beans with a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth.
- Add cooked brown rice, chopped onion, minced garlic, grated carrot, chopped cilantro, smoked paprika, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper to the mashed beans.
- Mix all the ingredients thoroughly until well combined.
- Gradually add all-purpose flour to the mixture, stirring until it forms a dough-like consistency.
- Shape the mixture into small balls, about the size of a golf ball.
- Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Fry the balls in batches, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove from oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Serve warm with a dipping sauce of your choice.
