Ingredients

  • Potatoes - 400 grams
  • Vegetable oil - 500 ml (for frying)
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Fresh parsley - 1 tablespoon (chopped, for garnish)

Steps

  1. Peel the potatoes and cut them into thin, even strips (about 1 cm thick).
  2. Soak the potato strips in cold water for about 15 minutes to remove excess starch.
  3. Drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.
  4. In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
  5. Carefully add the potato strips to the hot oil in batches, frying them until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes per batch.
  6. Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried potatoes from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
  7. Season the hot fries with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika while they are still hot, tossing to coat evenly.
  8. Serve the Batata Frita hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley.
