Ingredients

- Vegetable oil - 500 ml (for frying)
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1/2 teaspoon
- Fresh parsley - 1 tablespoon (chopped, for garnish)
Steps
- Peel the potatoes and cut them into thin, even strips (about 1 cm thick).
- Soak the potato strips in cold water for about 15 minutes to remove excess starch.
- Drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.
- In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
- Carefully add the potato strips to the hot oil in batches, frying them until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes per batch.
- Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried potatoes from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
- Season the hot fries with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika while they are still hot, tossing to coat evenly.
- Serve the Batata Frita hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley.
